One of our regular OEM customers has ordered 21 x 500 tonne CPA compression load cells, which are now complete and ready for collection. These stainless steel load cells will form part of their extensive Centre of Gravity (COG) system fleet, for use during heavy lifting operations. Used in conjunction with our custom-designed COG software, the system provides individual loads and the dynamic centre of gravity, to minimise the risk of incidents during a lift. Each load cell is supplied complete with loading cap (for optimal load centralisation), is sealed to IP67 and has achieved an accuracy of 0.1% of rated load.
In the final stages of manufacturing this week are ten 200te submersible shackle load pins that will be used to provide mooring line tension monitoring. These substantial 150mm diameter by 550mm load pins are supplied with a special cage that protects the connector and an anti-rotation bracket. Also supplied is a certificate of conformity, 3.1 material certification, with proof load and calibration witnessed by ABS at our factory.
Ready for despatch early next week are 24 custom design load pins rated to 150,000 lbf for a company in Mexico. The load pins are required for 30 newly designed sand silos for oil wells, for which our customer has secured a contract to build within the next 6 months for a USA oil contractor. Four load pins are required per sand silo, so this initial batch will be installed in the first 6 sand silos to be manufactured. The remaining 5 batches of 24 load pins will be despatched on a monthly basis. LCM Systems are also supplying a large digit display per sand silo that shows total load.
This order was unusual for LCM Systems in that the time from the receipt of the initial enquiry to the despatch of the first set of pins was just 6 weeks. The customer needed the load pins in a very short lead time to be able to meet their contract deadline, and LCM Systems was able to accommodate their requirement with receipt of order to finished load pins achieved in just 18 working days.
Despatched on Tuesday to one of our regular OEM customers was a custom design 400te load cell. Manufactured from stainless steel, this annular load cell has an accuracy of better than 0.4% of rated load, is sealed to IP67, and comes complete with welded carry handles to aid installation and general handling. With an impressive 285mm overall diameter and a centre hole diameter of 115mm, it will be used in an application where an anchor bolt passes through the centre of the load cell, allowing the anchor bolt tension to be monitored for safety purposes.
On their way to a customer in the Czech Republic are 4 x 500N gear shifter load cells. These specialist load cells provide measurements in both X and Y directions, having been instrumented with two strain gauge bridges mounted at 90º to each other. They are supplied with an external amplifier housed in a die-cast aluminium enclosure to give +/-10 VDC output. Designed for use in automotive clutch/gear testing apparatus, these load cells are fitted in-line with a gear shifter and produce an output depending on the direction of the force. The measurements recorded over time can be used for fatigue analysis and/or evaluation purposes prior to a product being released for general production.
Leaving our factory this week are 10 off S-type load cells, that will be used in Portable Saddle Clamp Testers. These will be delivered to a customer that designs and manufactures specialist equipment and tooling for pipelines. Saddle clamps are used extensively in the gas and water industries to ensure the optimum force between the electrofusion fitting and the pipe. Over time the spring within the saddle clamp can weaken, so regular calibrations are required to check that the applied force remains within the required range. The Portable Saddle Clamp Testers enable this to be carried out easily and quickly in the field. Our STA-1 load cells are ideal for this application, as they offer 0.02% accuracy and are environmentally sealed to IP67. As per our customers requirements, the load cells have all been calibrated in both kN and newtons.
This 30 tonne capacity tension and compression load cell has been purchased by an Iranian company who will use it to offer a mobile calibration service to their local industrial customers. With an accuracy of 0.06% of rated load it is ideal for providing high accuracy load measurements, and having standard metric threads at each end for adding rod end bearings makes the measuring of tensile forces very easy to achieve. Manufactured from stainless steel and with environmental sealing to IP66, this robust load cell will easily withstand the rigors of the application.
Ready for despatch this week are 12 x stainless steel load links, all rated to 14te, for a container port operator in Turkey. This customer purchases these load links on a regular basis, having been designed to meet their exact specification and dimensional requirements. Installed on RTG Cranes to form part of their crane weighing system, they are manufactured from stainless steel and environmentally sealed to IP67, making them perfect for long-term operation in a marine environment. They also have 4-20mA output for direct data input to the ports PLC system.
LCM Systems have manufactured 28 load pins for use in a theatrical stage lift application. The requirement was for 4 x 6te, 16 x 11.5te and 8 x 15.5te load pins, each with 4-20mA output, which will be installed in stage lifts at the Hale Centre Theatre in Utah to monitor the loads on the chains that drive the lifts. This will allow real-time monitoring to ensure loads are equally distributed and within operational limits.
Packed and ready for collection on Monday is a 400te telemetry load shackle, which has been ordered by a major oil & gas contractor. The traceability requirements were extensive, with non-destructive testing and proof load testing of the load shackle body and pin carried out at GN Rope premises and witnessed by ABS, as well as material traceability to 3.2 (EN10204). The calibration was also witnessed at our factory on the Isle of Wight. The load shackle was supplied with a specially designed bobbin which increased the diameter of the load pin to ensure it fit perfectly within the weighing assembly. From order receipt to despatch was just 6 weeks, which included all the testing.
